I am a mother and grandmother concerned about the crisis of faith of some of my children and grandchildren. I personally know many other parents and grandparents who are in the same predicament and are equally concerned about the loss of faith in their families, I speak for them as well.

We have seen the faith slip away from our children and grandchildren. They no longer know their faith, they no longer know God, they live as pagans, rarely thinking of God, or the teachings of his Church. What is happening in their lives is so alien to what we believe, that often we refuse to face the truth and are in a state of denial.

I believe that the Church in Australia is also subconsciously in denial that there is anything seriously wrong. All the excuses in the world are made to explain why so many have left the Church, with no admission that it could be because the faith has been watered down so much that no one wants anything to do with it.

The bishops and priests need to know the truth - how the Church and our Catholic Schools have contributed to this situation. I suggest we write testimonies as to what has happened to our families and how the faith has been lost. Hold nothing back, tell it as it is, tell them how we are suffering.

I believe that if we can gather together enough written testimonies from people and send them to our bishops, they will have to take notice. Each testimony should be no longer than one or two pages. Two copies of each testimony should be made, one for the diocesan bishop and one for the Bishops' Conference. I would like to have 20,000 written testimonies from all over Australia arrive at the Bishops' conference in November 2002 from every State in the country.

We need local coordinators in every town or city, who would be prepared to collect the testimonies. All testimonies should then be sent to a local coordinator, who would forward them to designated places.
