Letters Birth control (letter)Those readers who were interested in the book review of Open Embrace: A Protestant Couple Rethinks Contraception by Sam and Bethany Torode, in your September issue, may like to know that there is another book on the same subject also by a Protestant. It is The Bible and Birth Control by Charles D. Provan, and was published in 1989 by Zimmer Printing, 410 West Main Street, Monongahela, Pennsylvania 15063, USA. The promotional copy on the back cover reads in part, "Protestant opposition to birth control has largely been forgotten in our decadent Twentieth Century. If you wish to know about Biblical principles which oppose contraception, or wish to know what the Reformers and their heirs thought about this important subject, we certainly hope you'll get this book!" KEVIN TIGHE Reprinted from AD2000 Vol 15 No 10 (November 2002), p. 14 |
