Letters Contact your candidatesIn the lead up to the federal election, it is important that people speak with their candidates and tell them that they oppose any change to the Marriage Act. This activity is important, especially towards Coalition members, as when the matter arises in the next parliament they will discuss this in a party room meeting. Their policy stands as supporting what marriage is, but they will decide whether to continue this or to abandon marriage as Coalition policy and have a conscience vote. If each person contacts their Coalition candidates, the same can say that they had a powerful message from their electorate to retain the marriage policy. This will give great support to those on-side, pull the waverers our way and cause those in favour of redefining marriage to think again. If we all act together we can have a decisive influence on this issue at the ballot box, because children have a right to a mother and a father.
