After months of planning and preparation the Thomas More Centre Bookroom was officially opened by Archbishop Denis Hart in Melbourne.

Over the past few weeks, with much input from the staff at the Thomas More Centre, the Bookroom was set up on the ground floor of our office in North Melbourne.

A few days before the opening several sets of shelves were generously donated by Chris Healy from Rainbow Book Agencies.

On Friday, 7 September, at 2.00pm the bookroom was officially opened by His Grace, Archbishop Denis Hart. Peter Westmore welcomed the Archbishop and gave special thanks to books manager Anthony Cappello, whose initiative it was to open a bookroom and who has worked tirelessly to bring his idea to fruition.

The Archbishop read a prayer which had been written especially for the occasion, and blessed the Bookroom after ceremoniously cutting a red ribbon across the front door.

The Archbishop spoke of his admiration for the work done at the Thomas More Centre and his confidence in the quality of the material to be available at the new bookroom, saying he knew that it would be soundly Catholic.

The Thomas More Bookroom will be not only a place to buy excellent books, but also a place to meet friends and to share an appreciation of good literature in the Catholic tradition. We look forward to being of service to our customers in providing them with good books at reasonable prices and to helping to spread a love of knowledge and the faith.

The Thomas More Bookroom, which is open from 10.00am-1.00pm Monday to Friday, is situated on the ground floor at 582 Queensberry Street, North Melbourne, phone +61 (03) 9326 5757, email books@ad2000.com.au
