Appeal 2010 Fighting Fund launchedThis issue marks the commencement of the 2010 Fighting Fund, our annual appeal to readers to ensure the continuation of AD2000 and its associated works. There can be no doubt that the impact of a highly materialistic, secular culture has eroded religious belief and practice in contemporary Australia. The radical individualism of contemporary society has inevitably been accompanied by moral confusion and an increase in selfishness and lack of concern for others, the breakdown of the family unit, and the erosion of standards of conduct in the media, film, TV and the internet. To reverse these social disorders will require not so much a change of government as a change of hearts. The future depends on those who are imbued by what are rightly called the Christian virtues of faith, hope and love, and who live out these principles in their own lives and in our society. We are convinced that these principles, which have stood the test of time, are as valid today as they were 50, 100 or 2000 years ago. Our role is to examine critically what is happening in the Church and society, and to look forward, in a way which is faithful to Christian tradition. We will not succumb to the temptation of despair. There are signs of hope, and your support for the Fighting Fund will ensure that AD2000 can continue to play a prophetic role to help bring about a more Christian society.
