Reflection: Benedict XVI: Palm Sunday means following Jesus Christ - Pope Benedict XVI

The Victorian Government intends cancelling the present ban on major businesses opening on Easter Sunday with Minister Louise Asher saying the new laws will "give people more control over their lives".

Is forcing workers (who would like to spend Easter going to church and/or relaxing with family) to go to work mean giving them "more control"? Are not 363 days enough days to worship money?

The Church should protest loud and long about this attack on the Christian Faith. Easter Sunday commemorates the Resurrection of Jesus the Son of God from the dead, an historical event that is the key point in God's revealing himself to the human race.

Frittering away this holy day, this opportunity for some silence and contemplating what is most important in life, what could be more stupid than that?
