Reflection: Lectio Divina: a way to deepen our prayer life and spirituality - Fr Andrew Wise

Fresh from their trip to Washington DC, Brenda Croft and Jenny Knight of Perth Catholic Productions returned to WA late last year after a host of unforgettable experiences.

They had been invited to attend the United Catholic Music and Video Association's annual Unity Awards on 26 October 2002 because their production The Rosary for Youth was a finalist in one of the categories, and they themselves were presenters of an Award.

Among their many highlights, they count the "overwhelming welcome we received as Australians when we were given the singular honour of presenting the first four category awards."

The audience of several hundred included Church dignitaries and representatives from the US Congress, the European Union and many involved in the music and media industries.

Although they did not win their category on this occasion, it was an important opportunity to reach a wider audience through numerous media interviews and speaking to a large group of school children.

Among those attending was Dana Scallon, who won the Eurovision Award some years ago, and has since gone on to record numerous religious music CDs, including the Rosary and Stations of the Cross.

According to Brenda and Jenny, she appeared very burdened with her responsibilities as Irish representative on the European Union. She asked for prayers to give her strength to continue her fight against the current spiritual warfare attacking Ireland and Europe in relation to abortion, human cloning, stem cell research, euthanasia, and all allied issues sacred to the Catholic Faith.

After the Awards, Brenda and Jenny flew to Alabama, home of the EWTN network, where they were interviewed by Doug Keck on their mission of evangelisation through their recordings.

Prior to their trip, Pope John Paul II had released his new document on the Rosary where he added five new Mysteries of Light, and proclaimed October 2002 to October 2003 as the Year of the Rosary.

They are already working on adding these new Luminous Mysteries to The Rosary for Children and The Rosary for Youth recordings, which should be available early in the New Year.

They are also working on their next production, The Rosary for Families, due for release by the middle of 2003.

Brenda and Jenny can be contacted on tel (08) 9259 0797; fax (08) 9259 4054; email: info@perthcatholicproductions.com.au. Their website is at www.perthcatholicproductions.com.au.
