Correction

I wish to correct a mistake in my article "The Catholic Church's dissenters miss the boat" (June AD2000). The words "thereby eliminating a coordinating bureaucracy" were inserted in the wrong paragraph. They should have been inserted after the words "responsible for global tasks".

My point was that it is large organisations with flattened structures of dispersed authority and leadership (such as the Church) that have eliminated coordinating bureaucracy. I was distinguishing these flattened organisational structures from pyramidal organisational structures that still suffer from coordinating bureaucracy.
