I wish to draw the attention of your readers to the recently formed Catholic Doctors' Association of Victoria. The Association hopes to assist Catholic doctors in the integration of their faith and their clinical practice by promoting the practice and provision of medical health care in a manner that upholds and respects the dignity of the human person, in accordance with the teachings of the Catholic Church.

It is through fraternal communion and support and the organisation of regular meetings and events with regard to faith and work-related issues that the Association hopes to achieve these aims.

The Catholic Doctors' Association of Victoria will be holding its opening Mass and dinner on Saturday, 9 October 2004. Our guest speakers will include Mr Mike Willesee and Dr Tracey Rowland who will be discussing the issues pertaining to "Faith in the Workplace".

The event will be held at the Park Hyatt (opposite the Cathedral) in the Fairmont Room at 8pm. It will be preceded by Mass in honour of our patron saint, St Raphael the Archangel, at St Patrick's Cathedral, commencing at 7pm.

Anyone interested in Catholicism and its relation to medical and work-related issues, especially doctors, nurses and medical students and their spouses/partners are most welcome. The cost is $60.00 per person.

For bookings and further details of coming events please refer to our website: www.catholicdoctors. asn.auwww.catholicdoctors.asn.au or one of the telephone contacts below: Dr Dominica Ho 0402 815 599, Dr Trish Newell 0403 193 786, Dr Eamonn Mathieson 0412 664 232.
