Good governments have strong interests in marriage between man and woman because of the children it produces and because children are entitled to have a biological mother and father.

So-called homosexual "marriages" are liable to harm the emotional wellbeing of any children involved.

If minority gay activist groups calling for recognition for homosexual marriage claim this is a basic human right one might equally argue the case for other aggrieved minorities like polygamists or multiple partner groups.

While some politicians talk about the need for a compassionate society and an end to "discrimination" against victimised downtrodden minorities we should all make it clear to our parliamentarians that marriage is for one man and one woman only!
