Reflection: Benedict XVI on Lent: 'authentic conversion to the love of Christ' - Pope Benedict XVI

For those Catholics who read M. Cassey's article, 'Removal of altar rails not authorised by Vatican II', it would have reawakened in them the pain, sadness and desolation that has occurred since the 're-ordering' of many of our beautiful churches.

In my city of Gympie, Queensland, such did happen along with all the other 'wreck-ovations', such as removal of confessionals, shutting down of the organ and choir loft, a walk-in baptismal font built on the sanctuary, communion altar rails removed, and paramount of all, the tabernacle screened off, contrary to Pope Paul VI's Mysterium Fidei as quopted by M. Cassey.

Pope John Paul II said many times that the Blessed Eucharist is the 'source and summit of our Faith'.

Then followed the changes to the Mass. No uniforms, only street clothes for the altar servers, no washing of the hands, the congregation allowed to say in part the words of Consecration, and Masses for for forgiveness of sin at Easter and Christmas. No wonder Catholics have left the Church, as has happened here.

Our Church is clearly divided today. We can only pray.

Meanwhile what hope have we got when some Queensland bishops remain passive, even with full knowledge of what is happening.

Thank you AD2000 for bringing this matter to the fore. It is integral to our faith and must be addressed - this for the glory of God.

We pray that altar communion rails, symbols of our deep faith will be restored and we will once more have a house of prayer - God's House!
